Best known for his quick wit and viral sketches as the co-founder of SGAG, Adrian Ang (more popularly known as Xiao Ming) recently starred in an episode of Passion Pursuits, a new series exploring people and ideas that are transforming Singapore’s creative landscape – filmed right in Performance Pickleball!
While the show touched on Adrian’s identity as a content creator and entrepreneur, what stood out most was his passion for pickleball.
Inside the Video: A Glimpse into His Pickleball Journey
In the Passion Pursuits episode, viewers were treated to a more personal side of Adrian – where he talked about the mechanics behind running a creative empire. The show filmed him at Performance Pickleball, where he often visits, reflecting on how pickleball became more than just a hobby.

From One to Many: How Pickleball Became a Family Affair
What started as a casual game quickly spread across Adrian’s household. In the episode, he shared a funny anecdote about how even his son has started to learn about his father’s pickleball addiction.
“He kind of found out or realised that [I was] going out to play pickleball [...] So when [I’m going out of the house] he’ll be like ‘Daddy, where are you going?’ Then I’m like ‘Oh, uh no just going out to meet my friends’ and [he’ll say] ‘Play pickleball?’”
- Adrian Ang, Passion Pursuits
Adrian’s love for the sport has bled into his daily life as well, as he also shared about how he has started playing pickleball with his son at home – coupled with an adorable video of his son swinging around that paddle like a pro!

Windsurf to Paddle Smash: The Big Switch to Pickleball
The episode also featured the story of why Adrian decided to make the switch to Pickleball.
“I just realised that, with my current life stage now, [windsurfing] is just impossible because with windsurfing, it’s that I must be free and there must be wind.”
- Adrian Ang, Passion Pursuits
These words came after his emphasis on family and his commitment to carving out precious pockets of time for his children, in the midst of juggling his business and hobbies.
That’s where pickleball entered the picture. With its shorter game durations, easy access to indoor facilities, and flexibility to play at any time, it can fit perfectly into any packed schedule. Unlike windsurfing, which required the right weather, equipment, and half a day blocked out, pickleball offered him a quick, reliable, and energizing way to stay active—without needing to plan his whole day around it.
